COLLABORATION FOR PEACE AND HARMONY

In commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations, Mayors for Peace, a not for profit organization, whose mission is to free the cities of the world from the threat of nuclear devastation, has collaborated with the World Harmony Foundation, a nonprofit organization, whose mission is to promote peace, respect and harmony, to pay tribute to the United Nations, on 24 October 2005.

The mayors of over 1,300 cities are proud to uphold the vision of a nuclear-weapon-free world, being achieved through international agreement by the year 2020, and strives in the meantime to avert the destruction of any city by nuclear explosion.

Mayors for Peace is pleased to co-sponsor the production of the UN60th Anniversary Posters and the UN Charter Posters along with the World Harmony Foundation, and to participate in the UN60th Anniversary.

The World Harmony Foundation has created the Harmony Bell for Peace to augment kinship and camaraderie. The Harmony Bell, which has the word Harmony going around the center of the Bell in the six official languages of the United Nations, can be rung by all people worldwide from all walks of life; thus, Mayors for Peace and the World Harmony Foundation will be ringing in “A Time of Renewal” for all visitors to the United Nations during UN Day 2005.
